MARIMEKKO Fall/Winter 2021

The Future Landscapes Collection

Culminating our 70th anniversary year, our Future Landscapes Collection for fall/winter 2021 reflects one of Marimekko’s most prevalent sources of inspiration: nature and its ever-changing landscapes. Marimekko prints have often been created by painting on the floor, literally connecting the designer’s own body with the ground. They have also been born in nature, by bringing a brush and canvas into different kinds of landscapes and studying how we interact with our surroundings in a deeper, more profound way. This kind of dialogue addresses the idea of Mother Nature as our grounding force.

"For me, the most beautiful landscape is a lakeside view in winter that appears white covered with ice and snow."

 – Marjatta, Finland

Let nature reinvent your wardrobe

Marimekko’s design language has always been synonymous with empowerment. Strong like nature itself, it allows you to immerse in nature’s elegance without compromising on practicality. Channeling your femininity in a statement dress is a worthy source of power in its own right.

Zariya is seen in a modernized version of the classic, wear-anywhere Marimekko shirt dress: the Sinililja cotton dress in the intriguing Maisema-Unikko (landscape poppy) pattern, a collaborative print hand-painted in Marimekko’s printing factory by Maija Isola’s granddaughter, Emma Isola, together with Marimekko’s design team.

Nature grounds me because it reminds me that I’m nobody and everything.

- Alexandra, Nuuksio
