The spring/summer 2017 collection brings together these revolutionary thoughts with new, surprising ideas that add to the continuum of our design heritage today. It includes bohemian-inspired styles and new, fresh prints by Liselotte Watkins and Paavo Halonen, spiced up with leather and canvas accessories as well as colourful and elegant bijoux.
The spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection also reintroduces five iconic Marimekko garments from the 1960s and 1970s, hand-picked from the design archive by Creative Director Anna Teurnell. The Monrepos, Linjaviitta, Liidokki and Korppi dresses and Kentauri skirt are among the most recognizable ready-to wear pieces in Marimekko’s history and all share a playful and skilful use of the print in relation to the silhouette of the garment. The foundation of Marimekko’s ready-to-wear is paying equal attention to the print and the shape of the garment, and this can be seen also in the five archival pieces.
